Aren Koren an Arizona Army National Guard Pilot. While delivering a replacement attack helicopter to a remote site near Ajo, Arizona, he encounters a mysterious weather phenomenon that tossed his aircraft wildly through the sky. When he emerges from the storm, Aren finds himself in a different time and world: ancient Egypt, known as Kemet. Flying along the coastline, he spots a palace perched on a promontory and landed nearby. Greeted by soldiers, he claims to be a seraph—an angel sent by the gods—to avoid harm. The locals assign him a young servant girl whom Aren chose to treat as a co-pilot rather than a slave.

Soon, terrifying creatures invaded the land, sent by a sinister consciousness. On a return mission, Aren and the girl are swept up in a deadly tsunami that ends in a crash. He wakes up back in the present day, rescued and taken to the base hospital at Luke Air Force Base. Later, his National Guard unit is activated and deployed to Egypt due to political unrest and the government’s request for assistance. Aren meets a fellow pilot, a woman, from an attached unit.

Both work as professors at Arizona State University, within the School of Evolution and Social Change. Over time, their relationship deepened from colleagues to romantic partners, and together they found themselves fated to discover a hidden temple filled with ancient treasures. Yet, the dark force that first transported Aren to the other dimension had not forgotten him—it pursued them both into the present, determined to find the temple and claim its secrets for itself.
